Bryan Carter developed, and refined a high - resolution method for the sandblast etching of glass. Primarily intended to decorate thick glass, as used in furniture and architectural applications, the process was to find a very different and life touching use. Bryan used this special process to etch the 58,000 names in the 144 granite panels of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
